Simon Clark commenced life as a joiner in a family shopfitting business. He rose through the rank to site agent and estimator until the untimely death of his father when he took over responsibility. The work force then was 8 but the company grew to employ over 90 craftsmen.
He introduced CAD as a setting Out tool recognised very early the power of technology even in the traditional trades.
The projects were diverse and involved Hotels in Kiev, Office board rooms in Taiwan, Fashion and Retail in Bond Street etc.
On retirement he built an indoor BMX and SkateBoard Park in Leeds which became a charity and is one of the leading venues in the world.
His passion for motor racing resulted in him taking the Chair at BARC one of the largest organising Clubs at the time and he remains Chair of British Touring Cars.
In 2010 an old colleague, who he had remained close to, called for a little advice and out of this chat came Lumsden Design. The friend was Callum Lumsden and the skills set of the two of us were a perfect mix. He has an extremely creative mind and Simon has the practical skills and business experience.
In the 6 years Lumsden has been open for business it has created all the Harry Potter retail spaces, The British Museum shops, MoMA shops in New York(5) & Japan(4) as well as The Royal National Theatre and many more. He has a unique understanding of the demands of shopfitting for designers and designing for shopfitters.
